DE/EN Short Resume Born and raised in Graz/Austria. Early interest in painting and architecture. First artistic work as a painter (predominantly non-objective), acryl or oil on canvas and paper at the age of 14. Experiments with techniques, colours and materials, photography, steel and light objects. For some of the early work Prizes were awarded. 1971 to 1991: Focus on paintings and collages. 1991 to 1993: Paintings on steel plates using lacquer and wax, etchings. 1993: Started creating large steel objects and their installation in various expositions in combination with videos. Expositions, Installations 1971: First exposition of paintings in Graz / 1993: Aufbruch – Durchbruch (Break-up – Break-through) - Contribution to the exposition “Kunst im öffentlichen Raum“ (Art in public space) on Schlossbergplatz, a place in the city centre of Graz/Austria / 1994: Die Pyramide (The Pyramid) – Installation of steel objects combined with videos, in Kuenstlerhaus (House of Artists) in Graz / 1998: Die vier Elemente (The Four Elements) - Steel–Light–Video – Installation in Künstlerhaus (House of Artists) in Graz / 2002: Isolation – Manipulation – Video installation in a confined space in Künstlerhaus (House of Artists) in Graz 2006: Zwei Stahlsäulen (Two pillars of steel) - Video and object installation – sequences of videos coupled with Xenon light in Künstlerhaus (House of Artists) in Graz / 2006: Endloskonzept (Endless Concept) – a video created for presentation on the BIX Media facade of Kunsthaus (Museum of Contemporaray Art) in Graz, consisting of a dialogue “Man and Media” as well as “Body and Space” / 2006 and 2008: Participation in the Symposium of Styrian Artists in the monastery of Rein near Graz (StyrianARTfoundation) / 2008: Künstler-Kommunikation (Artist Communication) - Video project for presentation at the ORF radio station in Graz / 2009: Die Promenade (The Promenade) - a video installation contracted by the company Roth in Vienna / 2010: Metamorphosen eines Würfels (Metamorphoses of a Cube) - Steel object as a contribution to the “Rohbau- Kunstschau in Engelgasse/Graz / 2008/2009/2010: Leading a group of students of the School of Media in Deutschlandsberg, several video projects were created; one of these projects won the first prize in a contest / 2011: Triadisches Ballett, New York, Traum (Triadic Ballet, New York, Dream) – execution of three video projects sponsored by the province of Styria / 2011: Up- and Downstairs - Video project executed and adapted for presentation in the staircase of Kunsthaus (Museum of Modern Art) in Graz / 2012: Endloskonzept (Endless Concept) – update of the video project created in 2006 again for presentation on the BIX media facade of Kunsthaus (Museum of Modern Art) in Graz / 2013: Massiv vernetzt (Massive cross-links), Steel objects and video projection in Kunstgarten (Garden of Art) in Graz / 2014: Retro 2020 - Exposition of the oeuvre, Gallery of the Graz University Clinic / 2017: Endloskonzept (Endless Concept) 6.0 - Video, music by Gerhard Nierhaus, launch in Landhaus Feuerlöscher, Prenning Various pieces of art produced by Crista Brandstätter are privately or publicly owned.
